Bug Fixes:

  • Guardian Shadow Cape now opens the Guardian Shadow shop to obtain the Cyber Guardian Shadow.  (Yes, we know it targets you, but that's how it had to be to keep the cape's original looks.)
  • Ascended Overfiend Blade of Nulgath, Ascended Overfiend Backblades, Bright Warlord of Nulgath Polearm removed from the Diamond Shop now.
  • Sublimated T-shirt Combo will now show in the BOL, with default baby red dragon art for now.

Art Fixes:

  • Fiend Face  of Nulgath (and Rare) and Dark Fiend Face of Nulgath will stop pretending to be each other now.
  • FairyTale Royalty (Female) leg is now CC to the top.
  • Dual Cyber Hanzamune Blades are now actually dual.

Bug Fixes:

  • Treasure Chest item description updated.
  • Ghostly Chibifar0 Bank now opens when pet is clicked on.  The hitbox was misaligned.
  • Corporate Cottage will now show owner name properly.
  • Artist Alley blank room bug resolved. 

Art Fixes:

  • CyberCaster Armor female coat has been stitched together.
  • Paragon Tophat now has fully CC hair.
  • Lord of Order 'Wrap' capes have been de-lagged as much as possible.
  • Hollowborn Shadow Shaper's Shadow Minion was given a boost so it can see over your name.
  • Abyssal Flame Pistol now has art on both versions.

Extras:

Space Daimyo has been retagged as Seasonal.  When the most beloved Palapuppy went to his new new playground, it was decided that all existing versions of him with his armour on would become Seasonal Rare.  Each year, you can obtain a new Daimyo pet on his birthday and put one of the armours on him!

Speaking of retagging things, some of you sharp eyed folks may notice some rarities changing on items in the recent past and near future.  This is not a bug!  This is a directly relating to a *hinthintwink* involving the Wheel of Doom.

Which leads us to the last bit.

Zohrah tells me a lot of folks trying to redeem IoDA tokens were having a hard time getting to the Lorepedia Page with the instructions on it.  Some time was spent attempting to bribe Swaggy and he has graciously agreed to tell players how to get to this page himself instead of that link on the tokens!

  • Travel Map widget for /that map now shows all the time.
  • Gravelyn has been spoken to about why Empresses of Evil should not flirt. 

Art Fixes:

  • FairyTale Wedding Cake Mace has stopped being shy about showing off how pretty it is.
  • Kitsune Commander foot and Noxious Symbiote arm for the females sewn on a little tighter.  
  • Lord of Order male and female adjusted to give proper weapon grips now.

So I'm sure you have all noticed that AQW recently celebrated it's 11th Anniversary!  Where did the time go?!

As with any game which survives as long as AQW has and updates regularly, things do advance through the years.  Which brings me to the reason for this very short exrtas.

When AQW was created, a very different art style was used.  It was much simpler.  These very very very very old items not matching some of the extremely detailed styles used today is not a bug.  We will not be able to update every old item reported.  Many players actually also prefer the older style as well.

  • Guardian's Blade of Light has a new and improved kung pao grip.
  • Tombstone Armor updated so the joints are where joints go.
  • Infernal Cyber Doomblade upsized.
  • 13th Naval Commander coat tail sewed on with stronger fishing line now.
  • Enchanted Kitsune Katana/ Dual Enchanted Kitsune Katana now CC to eye colour.
  • Shadow Hanzo Katana Cape blade handles now the right colour too.
  • Twisted EldritchSlayer's Locks shadow now goes where shadows go.
  • Lightovian Lycan Castle lightned up some.
  • Cursed Overlord's Wings de-runed on run.
  • Mirror Drakath's Hair (and variants) now have CC ears.

  • Courage Tonic removed from Nulgath Nation House - it’s an 11th Bday present from Asuka! See!

Wheel of Doom IoDA Update

Mega - Super - Incredible Update to the IoDA Tokens

You’ve asked for it, and now everything is ready to do it!  The IoDA tokens are being taken to the next level!  Starting tomorrow night (Friday, September 13th), the Platinum tokens are being retired and replaced.  If you still have any unused tokens, you can still redeem those by following the instructions on this page:

Wait!  REALLY?

Yes, really!  This has been a much requested feature since the Wheel of Doom made its return.  With the PIoDA tokens, we were able to do a “test” run to see if increasing the awards was feasible.  IT IS!  

Introducing - The WICKED Item of Donated Awesomeness!

The new and improved Wicked Item of Donated Awesomeness (or WIoDA for short) is taking the Platinum’s place.  This new token will no longer be left in your inventory.  With each prize awarded, it will be removed so you can obtain a new one.  And another new one.  And another new one.


The stack limit on them is going to show as 1.  But since they are removed now with the placements of your prizes, you can actually get as many of them as you have Treasure Potions for.  You just have to redeem them one by one.

So what other changes are there?

At this time, the same rules as PIoDA will remain in place for what types of prizes you can ask for.  

While we do have even more plans for the Wheel of Doom and the IoDA tokens, those are a subject for another day.  (hint*hint*teaser)

Fixes:

  1. Legion SoulSeeker Pet  hitbox has been reduced some.  It has to be large because of the floating motion the sword makes.
  2. Bido’s Birthday Hat 2019 eyes were not supposed to be CC.  Now they aren't.
  3. Skull Helm of Cerberus repositioned.
  4. Lustrous Bow & Lustrous Bow and Arrow has a new and improved grip.
  5. Happy Crab Conga has been convinced to come out of the shell.
  6. Twisted EldritchSlayer's Locks has art has been fixed.
  7. Flameborn Summoner Badge has been convinced to stop taking over the entire screen.
  8. Blade of Awe enhancements all now require rank 5 Blade of Awe rep.
  9. Mine Crafting and Hard Core Metals rewards stack limits lowered to 10.
  10. Roentgenium of Nulgath has been AC tagged.

  • Horc armour added to the Horc Rep Shop.
  • Surfboard of the Nation is back at the Nation Merge Shop.
  • Monster Priestess Blade Battle Pet no longer opens Blade of Nulgath Quests.
  • Blocked off screen in Waterwar has been unblocked.
  • Insomniac Beauty and Jinx have had their apops fixed.
  • Love Caster class is back in a shop in Curio for owners of the armor. (Look for the pretty pink banner!)

  • Legion Revenant female fixed again. (Sorry about that one folks!)
  • Galaxy Outfit female tank top altered for better fit.
  • OverSoul Witch's Hat now has a CC ear.  
  • The Flayer hand position adjusted.
  • Master Punk armour and helmet de-lagged.

Extras:

Backhair Helms! (aka the ones with really long hair in the back)

The helms which have recently become very popular with the long flowing locks which go behind players models have also become a source of frustration for some.  There are times and places that long part just does not show up.  Unfortunately, this is not a bug and is not something we can easily fix.

Remember here where we talked about layers?  This is the reason these helms derp out.  The part that goes behind your character model uses a layer that was not originally part of the engine, called backhair.  This layer was wiggled in for the sole purpose of obtaining this specific look, as it had been highly requested for years.

This layer does not actually exist on character pages or on item previews, so the long part simply will not show in these areas.  This item may also decide not to show for you or for others in the room from time to time.  Re-equipping the helm will resolve that.  This item also tends not to play nicely with certain long hair styles as well.  If you plan to wear the helm a lot, a bald or blank hairstyle is recommended. 

 

The Armour of Derpage! (or why some bits just won't move right)

Going back again to where we talked about the layers, many of you have noticed certain types of derpage on certain armour pieces, where the bits do not move as they would in a normal armour.

Let’s use these pieces as the examples:

Heroic ZombieSlayer Armor
This armour has a beautifully drawn shield which to all appearances, is being properly held.  It is not.  It is actually attached to the body layer.  While this does allow it to have that beautiful, fully rendered look, it does mean the shield does not move with your arm.  

Grimlord of Nulgath
This is another example of attaching a piece where it normally does not go in order to get a specific look.  In this case, the shoulder piece which is normally blacked out, has been attached to the chest piece as well so that it can be filled in.  Again, this means the “shoulder” part will not move normally.

Bug Fixes:

  • Quest box for Legion Revenant fixed on Yorumi server.
  • Lowered the drop rate for Thanatos armor and helm.  After receiving a bug report on the drop rate, we searched through Design Notes archives and found that the original drop rate was 0.01%. That drop rate was a temporary gift for Dage the Evil's 2018 birthday. It will be raised to 10% for his next birthday event in 2020.

AC Items and Inventory Spaces 

We’ve been getting a fair number of reports from players stating that AC items are taking up space in their inventory.  This is not a bug!  This is a misunderstanding.  AC items do take up space in your inventory.  They do not take up space in your bank.  We cannot make free inventory storage for AC items due to how the game handles character loading.  If we did this, eventually, you would not be able to finish loading before you errored out.

Bug Fixes:

  1. Dungeon Fiend Slime added to Dungeon Fiends. They drip a lot so the Castle Spiders are still collecting it too.  They say it makes their webs stronger!

Art Fixes:

  1. Legion Revenant art fixes to match the NPC.
  2. Duality and Digital Duality armours fixed to remove an orange bit.
  3. Acid Rain Mage female has the animation now.
  4. Vampire Slayer Locks and Vampire Slayer Hat got some CC tweaks.
  5. Nulgath's Birthday Gift head fixed, walk as fixed as it can be. This guy just has a hitch in his git along.
  6. Animated items from the May Seasonal Shop tweaked some so the animation shows better:
         J-Sixth Blade
         Dual Enchanted J-Sixth Blades
         Opposing Forces Lightblades

 

So, I'm sure all the Buggy Fans have noticed that we are not posting every week anymore.  This is because y'all have been so great at catching things early that there are less bugs being left in (and therefore being reported) so there aren't enough to merit a full DNs every week.  So what I'm thinking of doing is on the weeks where there aren't enough reports to merit a DNs, how about I make a post with some of the more common reports we get that are not-bugs.  Let me know what y'all think about that on My Twitter!

    Extras:

    The Chromium Canister and Titanium Trove have been removed from the Book of Lore shops.  After considering player feedback, we have decided to get these items out of the free items shop. If you have the badge for either the Void ChronoKnight Set or the Northlands Royalty set, you can now see new buttons with Vinara in /curio.  These buttons will allow you to purchase the Chromium Canister or the Titanium Trove for 6,000 ACs and allow you access to the tier 2 shops.

    Bug Fixes:

    • Eternal Juggernaut Armblades have been de-lagged!
    • Inquisitor of the Light collar/shoulder area downsized a bit to fit around the player head better.
    • DeathKnight Lord went to see the head shrinker.  It worked!
    • Defender Armour moved from shops to a quest button on each NPC at the Guardian Tower.  The quest will require you to have the Defender class from the proper NPC with at least 1 class point on it. (Frozards in /nexus will fill that requirement!)

    Art Fixes:

    • Snappy Puppy Locks repositioned on head.  
    • Dark Skyguard Uniform female leg texture added.

    Bug Fixes:

    • Acolyte, Warlord, Renegade, and Sorcerer armour versions are now from quests on their respective trainers, that will show if you have the class (with at least 1 point on it!) in your inventory, in the map /trainers only.
    • Doomknight plinth in Curio fixed so it appears for everyone with Doomknight class now.
    • Greenguard West button on the local map now leads to Greenguard West instead of being spoooooky.
    • Map /events is back with a shiny new pole!
    • Arrow in /timespace now silver.

    Extras:

    • Capes tiling when you sit/rest.  This is an engine limitation.  Capes can be adjusted to a degree for when you stand still and when you walk.  Sitting/resting is a different process.

        Bug Fixes:

        • Game Menu buttons are now fixed.
        • Farming Quests in /frozentower have been rearranged so they no longer interfere with the story line quests.
        • Nightlocke Blade has gotten it’s boosts.
        • Travel map should be fully fixed now.  PLEASE clear cache first if it is not showing as fixed for you yet.

        Art Fixes:

        • Legion Lich Lord + Staff hand redesigned to improve weapon gripping ability.
        • We took Ultra Vordred’s Santa hat away.  Immortal Joe needs stitches, but we got it!

        Server Crash vs Client Crash

        Why did I crash?

        Crashes!  We all hate them!  But what you may not realize is not all crashes are server or game crashes.  Today, we will talk about the difference between server/game and client crashing.

        A server/game crash is exactly what it implies, the entire server or game is down and none of the players can reach it.  The causes of server and game crashes are varied, so we can’t actually say with any certainty at any point that “crash A was caused by reason X” until we are done investigating each crash.  Rest assured that we do not want the game down any more than you do.  When the server actually crashes we work as hard and as fast as possible to get things back up so you can return to your play time.

        A client crash is when something happens that disconnects you from the server, but the game itself was not affected.  This is what happens most of the time when we see reports of “game crashed”.  There are quite a few known causes for why this happens.  Unfortunately, we cannot troubleshoot what you were doing at the time of your disconnection.  What we can do is to let you know what causes them so you can compare those to what you were doing right before it happened and know what not to do so you will stop disconnecting.

        Common causes of client crashing (disconnections) are:

        1. Picking up items.  There are 3 possible issues when picking up items.

        • The first is clicking the same type of item box twice.  When you click an item box, all items of the same type will be picked up.  Give the server the half a second it needs to do this for you. It is actually faster in the long run than spam clicking.
        • The next is spam clicking.  You need to allow the server the fraction of a second it needs to collect the items for you.  When you spam click to pick up ALLTHEBOXES, you are not allowing the server to finish collecting “Item A” before you also tell it to collect “Item B, C, D and E”.  Server gets cranky at being bullied like this.
        • Allowing the items to stack too high before picking them up.  When you allow hundreds of items to stack up before trying to collect them, the server gets cranky, much like in the spam clicking scenario.  Do pick ups a little more often when farming.

        2. Spamming class skills. Again, the cure here is to slow down the clicking.  We have found this is more likely to happen to players who use the keyboard and classes with haste boosting skills.

        • If you have a haste buff expiring at the same time as you use a skill, you will sometimes disconnect. This may solve itself as you level up and gain more natural haste.
        • Another class-related method that causes crashes is by taking damage when your HP is reduced to 0 by an HP cost skill (Void Highlord) or by a reflect (Burning Ward, Temporal Insanity). Be careful of that, too. 

        3.  Lag!  Lag is the very bane of every gamer and game everywhere.  It can’t be fully defeated, but there are many things you can do to argue it into a stalemate:

        • Show Pet - turn to No
        • Show Helm - Turn to No
        • Show My Cloak - Turn to No
        • Hide Other Pets - turn to Yes
        • Hide Other Cloaks - Turn to Yes
        • Animations - turn to Off

        Changing to these settings, individually or all together, can reduce a significant amount of lag.
        Another thing you can do to reduce lag is to have less tabs open, and this is especially true when you have streaming services like video or music sites open on other tabs.

        4.  Spam clicking the quest turn in button.  The quest turn in box, just like any other part of the game, can be affected by lag.  If you click the button and the quest does not turn in normally, please do not spam click the button.  It will not force the quest to turn in.  It can force you off the game though.  Your best option at that time would actually be to use the back or abandon buttons, give it a few moments and try to turn the quest in again.

        5. Your Internet.  You can have an amazingly high internet speed, and still have it drop for a fraction of a second and then come right back up.  In many cases you would never even notice these types of drops.  Sadly, this is enough to disconnect you from the server.

        6.  Your browser.  With changes to how many browsers are handling Flash, you may experience load issues or connection drops with some of them.  Because different browsers work better or worse with different systems, there isn’t one that we can recommend.  Try multiple browsers and see which one works best for you.

        And finally, my favourite thing to remind you of!  Always make sure you Clear Your Cache regularly.  I recommend no less than once a week, and up to 3 times a week if you play daily.
