All Summer long, we've been shining a spotlight on Lore's favorite Hero (you!) with a host of wicked-hot and killer cool rare sets... and this weekend's Limited Quantity Sets stay true to that theme. Set your alarms because our Summer Slayer gear goes on sale this Friday, July 25 at 6 PM EST.

To get the gear:

1. Go to your AQW Account Manage site 
2. Find the Limited Quantity Shop section (visible shortly before 6 PM EST)
3. Once the items are available, grab yours before they're gone! 

Each package comes with a unique set of gear and a badge in your Book of Lore and on your character page.

Chaos & Calendar Curveballs

We've had an unusual amount of schedule disruption this year, but this Summer especially, and I want to let you all know what's been going on. The TL;DR is that IRL Chaos crashed hard into our normally stable release calendar. From family and medical emergencies, out-of-state travel, vacations, and illnesses... multiple members of the dev team have been hit with challenges. When those things occur, our automatic responses are: "Don't worry about work; we'll get it covered," "How can we help?" and "How much time do you need?"

We tell all our team members that real-life comes first, no exceptions, and we stick to that. Because we do, it means sometimes we have to pivot on short notice.*** We pull in help from other team members. We revise the planned rewards. We shift larger releases to future weeks and load you up with new items to craft and collect.

We make it work, because that's what you do when your team members need a hand. But in changing the schedule, updates were delayed that we know many have been excited about. For any confusion the changes have caused, I apologize.

For myself and all the members of the AQWorlds team, I sincerely appreciate all of your patience and understanding. Your enthusiasm, passionate discussions about lore, and constructive feedback on all of the updates keeps the team's energy and spirits going strong.

I am sure you are as eager as the team is to begin the next main story in the Dwarfhold Mountains... things are only going to get hotter from here on out!

*** Especially true last week, when we were short on release assemblers, and this week, when some key art assets were unavoidably delayed.

Lich Class Preview

Master the Dark Arts (and the Undead)

Last month, during our Friday the 13th event, we announced that the Lich Class would arrive this Summer... and the time is almost here! A lot of you have been dying to get your hands on this one, so get ready to raise the stakes (and the dead). Log in August 1st for chills, skills, and a skull-cracking good evil time! 

Lich Class Overview

Lich is an endgame scaled version of the existing Necromancer class, playing similarly but with some powerful new tools in its kit. These include bonus damage to Humans, a Decay, Magic Resistance shred, a couple more skeletons, and a "second life" mechanic!

How to Unlock the Lich Class

Lich Class can only be obtained in the /moreskulls map during the Friday the 13th period.* To unlock the class, you'll have to complete Grimskull & Noxus' class quest, which requires the following:

• Level 80+.
• Rank 10 Doomwood.
• Klaatu's Necronomicon (coming next week to /necroproject).
• Verata's Necronomicon (obtained in /gaolcell, requires rank 10 Grimskull Trolling).
• Nicto's Necronomicon (obtained in /moreskulls).
• The most valuable thing of all (don't worry, you already have this, no extra farming requirements here).

* For the initial class release this next month, the /lichwar and /moreskulls maps will re-open for everyone from August 1 - 18th. That gives all level 80+ heroes a fighting chance to obtain the Class.

The maps are normally open to everyone during the week before and after a Friday the 13th event. Outside of those periods, they are locked to members and owners of the "Portal to Friday the 13th" house item.

Lich Details

Description: Recommended enhancement: Wizard. Only in death can you truly embrace the darkness that lies within you. Channel it to raise an army of the dead and lead an assault across Lore. The darkest power is now yours!

• Strike an enemy in combat (more effective on crits)
• Are struck by an enemy in combat
• Use Vital Sacrifice (restores 20 mana)

If Ex Mortis is active, applies Necrotic Curse for 8 seconds, reducing your target's Magic Resistance by 40%, and Decay for 2 seconds, negating all non lifesteal healing received.

Vital Sacrifice

Type: 70% Magical 
Mana Cost: 0
Cooldown: 1.5 seconds

Convert your life force into energy, damaging yourself based on Attack Power and restoring 20 mana. If Ex Mortis is active, applies Necrotic Edge, increasing your Crit Chance by 20% and reducing mana costs by 25% for 10 seconds.

Army of the Dead

Rank needed: 5
Target: Self
Mana Cost: 40 
Cooldown: 3 seconds

Summons an army of undead minions to your side (only appears if summoned outside of combat). Applies Deathly Frenzy, increasing your outgoing damage by 150% for 10 seconds. You conjure your darkest magic, applying Ex Mortis which empowers the next skill you use.

Death's Protection

Rank needed: 4
Type: Passive
Damage Resistance and DoT Resistance increased by 30%.

Death's Enchantment

Rank needed: 4
Type: Passive
Haste increased by 30% and Hit Chance increased by 20%.

Beyond Death

Rank needed: 10
Type: Passive
Upon taking lethal damage, negate that instance of damage and apply Survived Death, fully restoring your health and mana. This effect can only occur once every 45 seconds.

Conclusion

When creating Lich, the goal was to improve the soloing performance of Necromancer while (mostly) preserving the way its skills interact with HP and MP.

One of the more notable changes is that Skill 5 can now empower Lich's other skills, granting you access to a new arsenal of effects to use in battle. The self damage and Self DoT on Skill 5 have also been removed, alongside a reduction in cooldown. This means you can frequently empower your other skills without a direct risk to your health, as long as you have enough mana to do so.

Lich also introduces a new mechanic to the game. Upon reaching rank 10, you unlock the Beyond Death passive. This essentially functions as a second life, where if your HP would reach 0, you'll instead fully heal, with the effect going on cooldown afterwards. Liches are known to be hard to kill, so we wanted to give the class something to reflect that characteristic.

Noxus and Grimskull may have fought over the title of Lore's Best Lich, but now it's your turn. Show them who the true Master of the Undead is! (Just pretend that one guy in the Underworld doesn't exist for now.)

AQW Guild Spotlight: Eterna Palace

10 Years of Helping and Heroing

Heya heroes! This week’s Guild Spotlight is a magical mix of kindness, community, and crazy growth. We’re shining a spotlight on Eterna Palace, an AQW guild founded October 1st, 2014, and still going strong over 10 years later!

Led by K_sensei (who’s actually a game dev IRL) alongside a team of noble offers — Valkyria Rosanova, Faellyss, Luxurious_crown, Chazzey, Eizn, Akira the Usurper, Lania_stormking, and Via_graneet to name a few — Eterna Palace is a group of 380+ active adventurers out of 800 total members (!!) who live to help, guide, and spread love across Lore. Whether you’re a returning hero, a newbie lost in Battleon, or someone who accidentally aggro’d Blinky… Eterna Palace has always got your back!

“Not to mention, some of my game dev class students are there as my class activities involve AQW!” K_sensei exclaims with a smile, undoubtedly the coolest teacher ever.

As you can see, ~fun~ is the name of the game here! …well, technically, it’s AQWorlds, but you get the idea.

Player Housing Spotlight: Beast Beach Bash by Apo11y0n

Seas the Day at the Beach

Hi heroes! Are you enjoying your summer? Looking to take a tropical vacay without breaking the bank ~or~ searing your skin with the sun’s relentless rays? Oh boy, do I have the perfect place for you! Head on over to Apo11y0n’s Royal Beach Tent on the Safiria server, a quirky coastal creation that fuses beachside shenanigans with monster mayhem, moglins, and sneaky squeaky rodents!

“I hid 12 rats in the house, can you find them all?” Apo11y0n states, probably laughing from afar as I struggle to find more than 3 rodents. It’s seriously the hardest scavenger hunt I’ve ever embarked on!

But the real charm of this player housing build is the story each room tells. From jungle chaos to ocean oddities, every scene feels like a mini adventure built with intention, humor, and just the right amount of weird. Go grab your magnifying glass and sunglasses, and let the Beast Beach Bash begin!

Room 1: A Foliage-Filled Frenzy

We begin our tour with a jungle party so chaotic it feels like a nature documentary chugged 15 cans of Moglin Energy Drink. A lion looms over a litter of felines mid-melee, all the while a crew of colorful NPCs tries to keep the peace. Geopetal’s a stone-cold bouncer, Ballyhoo’s blazing blue amongst the bushes, and Twilly? He’s stunned into silence, frozen mid-word, while Zorbak declares “Chow Time!” before feasting on… whatever the hecc that green blob pile is under his feet. Melted Frogzard, perhaps? Check the Zard on the left; he’s all Surprised Pikachu meme.  

“The tent is making weird noises, but you also hear the sounds of partying further down the beach,” Apo11y0n says, waving us over. “Let’s ignore it for now, and party on!” 

Room 2: Freaki Tiki and the Briny Bar

Take a few sandy steps down the shoreline and things get… even freakier.

Memet is playing bartender while moglins and moglinsters soak up vacay vibes and fruity bevvys. Twig’s attempting pickup lines next to a HeroSmash hottie — “everything’s fine” Twig assures, but that lil moglin looks like he’s getting burned bad. Meanwhile, more HS heroes fly on in, Scurvy’s found something shiny, there’s a duck holding a revolver because why not, and a mariachi band politely awaits a tip. Twilly kindly offers a golden moglin statue, but the band only wants ACs. Go figure.

“Beyond the braziers, at the brink where the beach meets the briny blue, with baited breath we continue to the next room,” our host beckons, drink in hand, clearly unfazed by the madness unfolding behind them.

Room 3: Sandcastle Showdown

Here, the situation gets serious.

A massive kraken has stolen a koi from a keg… yes, really. A stoic samurai squares off against the squid in a seafood-themed showdown, and, should he emerge victorious, will probably evolve into a Master Sushi Chef. I’m pretty sure that’s how Itamae are made IRL. 

Twig and Quibble, having plowed through 10 cans of Moglin Energy Drinks, have gone full architect, crafting a sandcastle big enough for critters to crawl inside. Cute colorful crabs line up to wait their turn while a cat Cthulhu (obviously Cathulhu) wonders if it’s selfish to swipe some shellfish. 

In summary? Squids and samurais and sandcastles, oh my!

But don’t kick off your ruby slippers just yet, Dorthy. There’s one last wild place to explore.

Room 4: MONSTER MAYHEM!

This final room is where the beach party takes a dark turn.

You step inside and suddenly — BAM! Air conditioning! jk lol. Monsters. Monsters everywhere! A gallery of ghouls, dragons, and all your favorite baddies are packed shoulder to shoulder inside one enormous tent that somehow fits them all.

It’s epic. It’s ridiculous. It’s so AQW.

“WOAH! Looks like this tent is big enough to BATTLE in! Monsters GALORE!”

You try counting them all, but lose track at around 20. One is definitely breathing. Another might be staring. The exit is just behind you… but are you sure they’ll let you leave in one piece?

Shorelines, Sunsets, & Shenanigans

Apo11y0n’s Royal Beach Tent is equal parts scavenger hunt, beach party, and monster mash. This four-room saga dares you to laugh, squint, and probably question your counting skills at least once.

From baddie brawls to moglin mixers to grand theft kraken, every room in the Beast Beach Bash is an absolute blast!

And remember: there are 12 rats hidden throughout.

No way you’ll find them all.

But you’ll have a great time trying.

Name Origin

The name “Actium” isn’t just cool — it's historic! The Battle of Actium was the final showdown between Octavian and Mark Antony (and Cleopatra, ofc), marking a turning point in Roman history. Likewise, the Actium Guild is a modern-day clash of titans: PvP strategists, ultra-boss battlers, fashion friends, and set-building artists from across the world. Actium is here to conquer, connect, and create!

More Than a Guild — a Global Family

What started as a small, like-minded group has grown into one of AQWorlds’ most vibrant and supportive communities. As guildmember Pomme puts it:

“Actium has made AQW fun again since my return to the game. GOAT guild.” 

But what makes Actium so great?

“We really like to laugh, share experiences, talk about life and give each other advice for both life and play,” Perry explains on Discord, who may or may not be the guild leader, but they’re definitely the guild's spokesperson, and they definitely mean what they say!

“At least once a week we organize a competition or an event for the guild—set competitions, PvP, hangouts, and more,” continues Perry. “Sometimes they also include prizes!”

“Many of our guild members are end-game players with a lot of experience and a good spirit to help,” Perry notes. “We also teach those who’ve returned to the game after a long time.”

“The guild consists of people who have been with us since the very beginning,” Perry states. “Over time more and more members joined and we grew to be a big family.”

Originally eyeing in the whimsical Cotton Candy Cottage (a solid choice, no doubt), Dragonas realized it just couldn’t contain the full scope of their shadow-saturated vision. But when they laid eyes on the ShadowScythe Castle, it was love at first sight… and love at first Shadowscythe.

The Grand Tour of Doom… with Lattes?

Dragonas’s castle has a deadly, dramatic, and dangerously caffeinated vibe. Each room is packed with personality, power, and probably a few cursed relics.

🪑 The Throne Room of Influencers 

“A throne room with the most influential people (still working on that 😦)”

Complete with an iron throne, iconic celebrities, rare dragon eggs, and skeleton guards. Game of Bones, anyone?

🥁 The Rock Venue / Ritual Chamber  

“Ancient rituals held in my basement and most importantly, a ROCK BAND 😄.”

Yes, you read that right. Most castles have creepy basements. But Dragonas has a battle-of-the-bands arena in theirs. You should expect power chords and critical hits!

🔑 The Vault of Vaults

OMG there’s so much gold! Stacks of treasures so tall they make Greenguard's economy nervous. Don’t mind the police cruiser… it’s probably fine.

💥 Castle Arena

It’s a fight to the undeath! This battleground pits the fiercest combatants in Lore against each other. Definitely need a refreshing coffee after your latest victory.

🎮 The Gamer Den

A cozy room with plushies, toys, a gaming rig, and maybe a cursed manga collection. This is where all the dark plotting and light reading happens.

🔥 Chill in the Heat

Next to the Gamer Den is a lava-lit lounge, complete with a cauldron of fresh-brewed Moglinberry juice! Folks from all over Lore flock here if a cup of coffee is not their cup of tea.

🎄 The DoomKnight Before Christmas

It’s Christmas in July! Dragonas has dedicated the final room to the final month of the year, when Frostval festivities are in full swing. Sing carols with the Christmas crew, eye presents under the tree, and snap some selfies with some elves! Elfie Selfies, anyone?

Just like IRL, a house is always a work in progress, and Dragonas95’s home is no exception. Dragonas has pushed the limits of AQW player housing customization with incredible creativity and charm, and is excited to add more interactive objects in the future.
