Lady Celestia Needs your Help in Ashray Village

This weekend log in and sail into danger to assist Lady Celestia, the High Priestess of Dragons. The Great Water Dragon's egg has been stolen and hatched before its time into a twisted, aquatic abomination, threatening all around it. She needs your help to send it to an eternal rest deep beneath the waves.

Yarrr! New Loot in Quibble's Collection

The Final Update for our 2023 Pirate Collection is here

Quibble Coinbit-ARRRR just got in a new shipment o' loot fer his best mates. Check out his shop for new pirate-themed gear from the past, present, and future for heroes. Cysero's Forge House Items Update: Accidental Early Release

These items mistakenly released too early. They were intended to release in October as farming quest reward items (along with a variant using the normal Cysero NPC art). The items will not be limited to the TLaPD 2023 collection chest owners. 

We will not remove them, but will adjust the rarity to reflect that they aren't exclusive, and will add the 0 AC tag that the items were intended to have upon launch next month.

So if you own the collection... grats! You get an early sneak-peek!

History of Founders and Upholders

15 years ago, in 2008, AdventureQuest Worlds went live. A legion of passionate AdventureQuest Guardians and DragonFable DragonLords joined us on a new game-making journey. The early support of those Founders kept AQWorlds free for everyone to play. In recognition of their trust and confidence, every October we host a new Upholder promotion to reward other heroes who support the game's development. 

How to become a 15th Upholder

Starting Friday, September 29th, at 12:01 AM EST, we are once again offering the chance to become an AQW Upholder. 

• Have an active membership that expires on or after 11:59 PM November 1st or
• Upgrade your AQW account with ANY membership* starting this Friday or ANY TIME during the month of October

On Friday, badges will be added have been added to all heroes who are already 15th Upholders.* The first batch of 2023 exclusive Star Swords will arrive with Friday night's game update.

15th Upholder Badge Accidentally Added to Character Pages. FIXED!

At 11:55 AM this morning, we added the 15th Upholder badges to everyone who automatically unlocked the achievement badge. 45 minutes later (and after many confused posts and bug reports) Captain Rhubarb figured out the issue. There was a typo in the query awarding the badges... so anyone who got 14th Upholder in 2022 accidentally got the 15th Upholder badge. 

We rollled the fix by 12:41 PM EST, and the badges were removed from all accounts that should not have had them. I apologize for any confusion the issue caused. If you believe you should  have a 15th Upholder badge but don't see it, you can check your Upholder status inside your Account Manager. 

**** More adjectives = more cool. Plus, Palladium is rarer than Platinum. \O/

Deep Trobble Inn: New Quest + Item Buff

Make your way to the Deep Trobble Inn in the /pirates map and you'll see a dark Treasure Chest atop the barrels. Ask, and Lucia will tell you that this chest washed up on shore last Summer. It passed from sailor to dock-worker, from merchant to mage... until it was given to her in payment. If you're up for the challenge, accept the quest to open it and you'll unlock a bounty of new rewards!

Each time you complete the chest you'll get one of the Astravian Corsair set items plus a have a chance to get one of the other chest's treasures!

Mid-Week Reward Updates

Based on your feedback, we have some some SEA-riously nice updates to the Higure weapon:

• Now does 40% more damage to monsters
• Damage range changed to static
• Added a 30% Class, Rep, and EXP boost

New "Empowered Higure" weapon: this new weapon has been permanently added* to the /ultrdarkon merge shop. It does 51% more damage to monsters and can be purchased for x1 Higure, x20 Darkon Insignia, and x20 King Drago Insignia.

Plus: Lucia's Quest for the Bonebreaker  is no longer a daily quest. 

* Higure will remain a seasonal weapon, but Empowered Higure can be merged all year round.

15th Birthday Class Preview

Next Month... Prepare for DOOOOOOOOOOM!

Shadows are on the move. Leaves are beginning to fall. And... Doom is in the air. But why?! O_O On October 6th, we kick off Adventure Quest World's 15th anniversary event with the new Verus DoomKnight Class!

We are currently in the final stages of testing so you'll have to wait a little while longer for skill breakdown. There are still a few details we can share with you all now:

• Verus DoomKnight is single-target focused, can apply some nasty defense debuffs to its target, and utilizes a new "Doom stacking" mechanic.
• Requires level 80+ to acquire the class. 
• Can only be obtained after completing a series of quests.
• The class and its True DoomKnight armor set are permanent, so they won't be going anywhere!

Quests to Unlock the Class?

That's right! Similar to the ArchPaladin and Dragon of Time classes, the 0 AC Verus DoomKnight Class can only be unlocked by completing its quests.

You'll need to be at least level 60 to begin the class quests. Some of the quest requirements will include:

• Sepulchure's Original Helm
• Arch DoomKnight Helm
• ShadowReaper of Doom
• Dragonlord of Evil armor

Did you see that streak of red in the stars? That was left behind by the Hydra's Hark after its crew and Commander, Gallaeon, plundered one of Empress Gravelyn's fortresses, attacking from the sky. She sent one of her DoomKnights to bring Gallaeon to heel, and if you help him battle the crew + captain, he's got orders to let you pillage 'til your pack can't hold anymore rewards.

• Talk to Dusk to begin your quest to help subdue the crew
• Defeat Commander Gallaeon
• Victory unlocks a bonus quest + challenge fight against the Captain and crew

Commander Gallaeon & Crew Challenge

After you defeat Gallaeon in /doompirate, take him and his entire crew on at once. This nine mob challenge might be difficult to overcome, but if you are victorious enough times, you can earn Dusk's DoomTech DoomKnight armor, a house guard, and the Shadowscythe Pirate Warship house for yourself!

If you have the ShadowScythe Pirate Commander Upgrade Bonus pack, you've automatically unlocked a version of the house with a color-customization room!)

New News For You to Use

With so many players on so many different platforms, the team and I found that our information had become really scattered over the last few years. Earlier this year, we began these "round-up" Design Notes posts make sure everyone has access to all of the same info, no matter which platform you use. Read on to get all the latest news on updates, fixes, and sneak peeks.

You've Got Questions...

We've got answers! A few rapid-fire FAQs we've been seeing lately, and the answers you're after.

Where are the rest of the new helms + morph helms? ... Will any be for ACs? Good questions! The answer is... right now there is a boatload of helms and member-only morph helms dropping off the lavazard in Augusthub. This is their temporary location.

In the near future, they'll be moved to a quest from Bev in battleontown. At that time, we'll add the next batch of the morph helms (with the changing expressions), available for AdventureCoins.

When will we get the next update in the Lost Guardian Blade quests? VERY soon! Take a look at the AdventureQuest Worlds release calendar and you'll see the final update arrives at the end of this month.

Tomorrow: Aranx's Birthday Drops!

Aranx's birthday pet drops -- the 0 AC Celestial and Infernal Fenrir -- arrive tomorrow. Keep an eye on the Design Notes for more details!

Midweek Update: New Quests in Lolosia

Yarrrr! We be preparin' fer Talk Like a Pirate Day by expandin' one of th' most-loved maps in-game: Lolosia! /Join Pirates and talk to Lucia, outside the Deep Trobble Inn. She has new quests for you; finish them and she'll reward you with two new weapons!* 

Then return next Tuesday for a few new seasonal quests with even MORE loot, including a merge shop that'll enchant one of this week's rewards!

* That there description of the "Here There Be Dragons" scythe looks right interestin'... O_O

Battle Notes

• These are single-player rooms, so you'll need to rely on yourself to defeat your opponents.
• The final five fights will be a challenge, but are balanced so that individual heroes can win.

Server Update

We standardized the gold and XP monsters would drop on each server to help everyone predict the rewards you get, regardless of which server you join.

Tomorrow: New Helms + Yoshino's Live Event

Log in tomorrow and battle the Lavazard in the /Augusthub map to collect several new helms + member-only morph helms.

Celebrate Brasil's Independence Day

Head to /Mythperception Island in Terra da Festa and talk to Batista, the Folklore Spinner. He's got a new tale to tell: the legend of the Boto Cor Rosa! Battle the Boto Cor Rosa to collect all new reward drops, plus gather Pink Gems of the Sea to create the Pastel Privateer set in Batista's merge shop.

Then take on the bosses in /iara and /ultraiara to earn merge shop resources to create epic new reward items themed after Iara's tail (er... tale).

Release Plan Updates: Helms + Armor Delayed

Good news: The hair shop update with a selection of new hairs/beards is live now!
Temporarily-less-good news: The male armor art for Dusk's DoomTech DoomKnight armor is done; the female is in progress still. I needed to delay that and the helms / morphs due to the hurricane + and an unplanned oral surgery.

I dont want to sugar-coat things; this delay was really unfortunate... and that's the tooth. We'll bridge the gap with more gear ASAP. The female armor will be added first, and I am planning to add a batch of helms next week.

Now Available: Shadowbound Voyager

Upgrade to unlock the exclusive armor sets

The Shadowbound Voyager upgrade bonus gear is now available! Unlock all 19 color-customizable items in the when you buy any AdventureCoin or Membership package of $10 USD or more.

After you purchase an account upgrade, select a bonus set of your choice from a list of options in your Account Manager.

Pack Details

Choose the new upgrade bonus set to unlock all the gear from the set's badge shop in your Book of Lore. The set includes:

• Shadowbound Voyager and Vessel armors
• 6 helms
• Shadowbound Claws, Skulls, and Ship capes
• Shadowbound Shade ground rune
• 2 Gauntlets, 2 Katanas, 2 Guns (single + dual-wield versions)
