How To Talk Like A Pirate 101

Arr ye ready fer Talk Like a Pirate Day?

Ahoy, me hearties! Glad ye made it here in one piece! (Har har har, git it? One Piece ☠️) Anywaves, International Talk Like a Pirate Day be upon us, mateys! That glorious day o’ thee year when perfectly respectable adventurers throw grammar overboard, start yellin’ “ARRR!” at innocent landlubbers, ‘nd suddenly develop a suspicious interest in treasure, parrots, and… dare me say… BOOTY 👀

Aye, that be right. Talk Like a Pirate Day be the one day of the year when ye can blame absolutely EVERYTHING on pirates.

Forgot yer homework? Arrr, it be stolen by pirates!

Ate the last cookie? Aye, that be goin’ straight to me booty!

Sent a message full o’ typos? Me parrot walked on me keyboard!

Walked into a door? Avast! Dang blasted door attacked me first!

But beware: simply shoutin’ “ARRR!” ev’ry five seconds does NOT make ye a proper pirate. 

Nay! There be an ARRt to this, ‘nd lucky fer ye, the Artix Crew has hauled out thee ancient scrolls ‘nd assembled a comprehensive guide to help ye master the swashbucklin’ skill o’ Talkin’ Like a Pirate.

There Be Rules, Sailor

The first thing ye need to know about becomin’ a pirate be simple:

Ye gatta BELIEVE ye be a pirate. Savvy?

If ye don't truly believe ye be a scallywag supreme o’ the seven seas, then nobody else be believin’ it either!

Ye cannot simply put on an eyepatch ‘nd call it a day. Well… actually, ye can. BUT! Ye'll be a pirate with terrible commitment, aye, that ye’d be. 

So follow these here rules, sailor, and ye'll be talkin’ like a seasoned sea dog in no time!

1. Pirates ain't exactly be known fer speakin' proper

We scowl. We grumble. We mutter. We… grumuttrumble. ‘Nd we be dramatically starin’ into the distance ov’r yonder while thinkin’ ‘bout our next booty-related bounty!

But most importantly of all, we NOT be wastin’ time enunciatin’ ev’ry syllable.

Mumble ’n mush ’n mash yer words, matey! Let 'em tumble out of yer mouth like a barrel o’ monkeys rollin’ down the deck. If somebody asks ye to repeat yerself… ye be doin’ it correctly.

“Arrr, me said what me said!”

2. Rum Run yer words together

Proper sentences? Overrated. Punctuation? Overboard. Grammar? YE KNOW WHAT BE NEEDIN’ TO BE DOIN’! Pirates don't be speakin’ in neat little sentences like some lily-livered lubber. We smash words together ‘til they become one mighty pirate-word.

“Hey, did you see that?” -> “You see that?” -> “YARRRSEETHAT?!”

Beautiful. Terrible. Perfect? Ye better believe it, me salty sea dogs!

3. Use yer hands 

If ye still have both hands, USE ‘EM! Pirates be a highly expressive bunch. Point dramatically. Wave yer arms. Shake yer fist at the horizon. Grab yer imaginary cutlass. Pretend to steer a ship. Gesture toward yer imaginary booty — TREASURE, me means!

The more dramatic the gesture, the more pirate ye be. It also be good fer circulation ‘nd gettin’ ye lymphatic system movin’ like a kraken thrashin’ beneath the waves!

4. Pirates be LOUD

Ev’ryone knows this… but the louder ye be, THE SMARTER YE SOUND!

This be basic pirate science. If ye have somethin' important to say, don't ye dare whisper it.

YELL IT!!

If ye have somethin' unimportant to say, yell that too. ‘Nd if ye have nothing to say...

ARRRRRRRRRRRR!

See? Ye’re already gettin' the hang of it.

5. Never say “you” or “your”

That be unless ye wish to walk the plank! It be “ye” and “yer” in the pirate's life!

“Are you ready?” -> “Arrr YE ready?”

“Where is your treasure?” -> “Where be YER booty?”

“Your hat looks nice.” -> “YER hat be lookin’ mighty swanky, sailor.”

Savvy?

6. “Me” be better than “I”

Pirates be simple creatures. We don't be sayin’: “That is my treasure.”

We say: “THAT BE ME BOOTY!”

We don't say: “I am going to the ship.”

We say: “ME BE HEADIN' FER ME SHIP!”

See how much better that sounds?

7. Drop that pesky “G”

Words endin' in “-ing” have no business carryin' around a G. It just be extra baggage. Throw it overboard!

Goin’. Fightin’. Fishin’. Swimmin’. Plunderin’. Lootin’. Stealin’ (aka questionably legal treasure acquisition).

All perfectly acceptable pirate vocabulARRRy.

8. Make up words if ye have to

Pirates be seafarers o’ the ocean ‘nd pioneers o’ the English language!

Hornswoggle. Scallywag. Bilge rat. Landlubber. Swashbuckler.

And if none of those quite capture what ye be tryin' to say? Invent another one!

Barnaclebrain. Plunderpants. Scallyflop. Bilgebucket. Grogglesnoot. Treasurewomp.

Nobody be stoppin' ye. Well, except perhaps the pesky dictionary. But the dictionary ain't invited on me ship!

9. Ye MUST have a lucky charm

A pirate without a lucky charm be like a ship without a sea. Or a parrot without a shoulder. Or a speech-impeded moglin without ice cweam. ABSOLUTELY unacceptable!!

Never leave port without yer lucky charm, or ye may suffer mighty dire consequences. Me never be leavin’ home without me lucky coffee mug. It has protected me from countless dangers. Mostly sleep. But still… MAGICAL!

Swanky Pirate Lingo

Now that ye know the rules, it be time to expand yer pirate vocabulary! Study these words carefully, sailor. Memorize 'em. Practice 'em. Shout 'em at yer friends. And strangers. And inanimate objects, too. Nothing ‘nd nobody be safe ‘round here! ‘Nd by the end of this lesson, ye'll be speakin' fluent Pirate.

All Hands on Deck!

A cry callin' for immediate action. Also appropriate when there be snacks.

Ahoy!

A general pirate greeting meanin' “Hello!” Common use cases include “Ahoy, matey!”, “Ahoy, hearties!”, ‘nd even “Ahoy person I have never met but who is standin' suspiciously close to me booty!”

Arrr!

The most important word in the pirate vocabulary. It can mean almost anything. It actually does mean anything. Such as “Yes,” “No,” “Maybe,” “I disagree,” “I agree,” “Look at that!”, “I have discovered treasure!”, or even “I stubbed me toe!”

Context be important. Probably. 

Avast!

A mighty cry generally meanin' STOP! It can also mean:

“Whoa!”, “Look at that!”, “Check it out!”, “No way!”, “Ye cannot possibly be serious!”

Aye, that be true.

Aye!

Pirate lingo for “yes.”

Aye! Aye aye, Captain! An aye for an aye, more o’ less.

Belay!

To stop or cease immediately.

“Belay that nonsense, ye scallywag!”

Bilge 

The lowest part of a ship where dirty water and other icky things collect. An excellent insult.

Black Spot

A warning or threat of doom. Very dramatic. Very pirate. Very Beleen when she spills her coffee.

Booty

Anything valuable that a pirate be plunderin'.

Gold. Jewels. Treasure. Rare loot. A really excellent pair of boots. Har har, not that kind of booty.

Cat o' Nine Tails

A nasty ol' whip made from 9 knotted ropes.

Thankfully, ye probably don't need one of these to enjoy Talk Like a Pirate Day. A good cutlass and an unreasonable amount of confidence should suffice.

Crow's Nest

A lookout point near the top of a ship's tallest mast. Usually occupied by whoever drew the short straw, no matter if they be afraid o’ heights!  

Cutlass

A curved sword favored by many sailors. Also excellent (maybe required?) fer pointin' dramatically at treasure maps.

Davy Jones' Locker

The bottom of the sea, where drowned sailors are said to end up. Not exactly the vacation destination me be recommendin’… but I hear it’s quiet. 

Grog

A pirate's beverage of choice. Can literally be anything drinkable. Or not drinkable. Just remember: if ye spill it on the deck, ye be swabbin' the deck.

Hoist the Colors!

To raise the pirate flag before an attack. Also acceptable when ye simply feel like lookin' dramatically piratey.

Hearties / Mateys

Yer shipmates, friends, and trusted crewmates. Basically, anyone ye'd want beside ye when the krakens come knockin'.

Hornswoggle

To cheat, deceive, trick, or otherwise engage in highly suspicious pirate business.

Lad / Lass

A young gentleman / a young gentle woman.

Lubber / Landlubber

Someone who prefers land to the sea. A grievous condition me poor ol’ heart cannot take! Treatment involves immediately putting on a pirate hat. Works 9/10 times.

Motherload

An absolutely ENORMOUS amount of treasure. If ye find a really big pile of loot, congratulations — ye have found the motherload!

If ye find an even bigger pile?

MOTHERLOADIER.

There be no rules when it comes to swanky pirate lingo.

Old Salt

A veteran sailor with many years of experience upon the sea. Also someone who probably has some VERY questionable stories. 

Savvy

To understand.

Captain: “Ye savvy, sailor?” 

Me: “Aye, Captain, me savvy!” 

Captain: “Ex‘sea’llent!”

Scallywag

A rascal, rogue, or generally troublesome person. Could be used endearingly or not.

Scurvy

A condition sailors could get from not eatin’ enough fruits and vegetables. Basically: all Vitamin Sea, no Vitamin C. 

Did ye know 1 Bell Pepper has 2-3x more Vitamin C than 1 orange? That be the truth, I swear to Poseidon!

Smartly

To do something quickly. Such as, “Move smartly, matey!”

Which might also translate to: MAKE INFINITY COME OUT FASTER!! Oh, we hear ye loud ‘nd clear.

Shiver Me Timbers!

An expression of surprise, amazement, or disbelief.

“Shiver me timbers! That is one fancy hat!”

Swag

Riches, treasure, or gold. Also, suspiciously enough, what pirates have in tremendous quantities. Coincidence?

Walk the Plank

To be forced to walk the length of a plank extended over the side of a ship. The outcome be… not promising.

Yarr

Interchangeable with “Arr” and “Aye” ‘nd perfectly acceptable in nearly every sea-worthy situation.

Yo ho ho!

A classic piratey exclamation, especially useful when ye need to fill awkward silence or perhaps need a transition between Design Notes sections. Yo ho ho 🏴‍☠️

Time to PARRRRTY!

Alright me mateys, ye’ve made it to the end of Pirate 101!

Ye know the lingo. Ye know the rules. Ye know the not rules. Ye've learned how to scowl, mumble, grumble, gesture, yell, slur yer words, drop yer Gs, and refer to absolutely everything of value as BOOTY.

Aye, ye be ready. So when Talk Like a Pirate Day arrives, unsheathe yer cutlass, slap on yer finest captain's hat, hold yer lucky charm high, and prepare to unleash yer most magnificent pirate voice upon the world!

If someone asks why ye be talkin' like a pirate? Ye answer with “ARRR.”

If someone asks ye to please stop? Ye respond with “AVAST, landlubber!”

And if they still don't understand? Dramatically gasp, throw yer hands in the air, 'nd shout far too loudly, “Shiver me timbers! Belay this nonsense!” followed by an exaggerated “ALL HANDS ON DECK!” and make it everybody’s problem instead.

Kidding! …maybe.

You can use any medium ~and~ any tool in your creative toolbox (or inventory bag) to create your creation(s). It’s called “anything-goes” for a reason! Your submission(s) must:

1. Directly reference AQWorlds and/or AQW: Infinity
2. Showcase your creative talent; no commissions
3. Be posted on social platforms like FB, X, YT, etc 
4. Include:

• Your AQW character name
• Title of your work
• Short description that describes your workflow, the IRL story behind your creation(s), and/or the totally made-up in-game lore revolving around your masterpiece!     
• Use the hashtags:

5. For every major social platform you post on, a +1 point will be added to your score. Example: if you post your entry on Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, you will get +5 points added to your final score!

Meet our Sweet Victors

Heroes. Friends. Fellow sugar-powered champions! We have officially survived the most delicious contest of the year, and wow, wow, WOW. The 2025 Creative Cookie Contest absolutely obliterated our expectations… and possibly our diets. Guild Spotlight: Temen

A Community Built on Kindness

Hi heroes! Our newest Guild Spotlight takes us all the way to the beautiful islands of Indonesia! Founded on December 23, 2023, Temen has grown from a small adventuring group into one of Indonesia’s most welcoming and collaborative AQW communities. Led by Freezer Cool and supported by the ever-awesome Officers like Pxndameong, T0kata, Grosser Helix, and Egl, Temen now stands strong with 110 active heroes united by kindness, curiosity, and community spirit.

From Humble Beginnings to Indonesia’s Alliance Hub

What started as a friendly little guild quickly blossomed into something much bigger! Temen is a vibrant community where players from various Indonesian guilds gather, help each other, and grow together. Even though Mogloween has slipped back into the shadows, I just gotta ask: when do we actually eat pumpkins in October? Like, never! But come Thanksgiving? OH BOY. We’ve got:

Ok so enough emojis and chitchat; it’s time to take a tour of Lucifer’s Pumpkin House!

Room 1: Pumpkin Pod Central

A GIANT pumpkin sits as the centerpiece, part cozy cottage, part creepy cottagecore! There’s a table set for trick-or-treaters (or maybe a cursed Thanksgiving dinner??), and little glowing jack-o-lanterns lighting the way. Just don’t mind the “KEEP OUT” sign… it only applies to boring people 💅

Room 2: Monster Mash Meetup

Everyone’s dressed to slay, both in the fashion sense ~and~ the boss fight sense! It’s a guild hangout that looks like it waltzed straight out of a Mogloween music video, complete with flashy fits, spooky swords, and LOTS of energy. Just don’t stand too close to that one guy using chainsaws as glowsticks…  

Room 3: Plushie Picnic (featuring Ewa’s Wishlist)

A warm little nook filled with pumpkins, plushies, puppers, pears, partridges, and a potion pot!  Ewa’s plushie demand was clearly met, although more might be on the way considering that totally inconspicuous summoning circle. This room is SO cozy it could tuck you in for a nap and top you off with a totally adorbs winged witch hat!

Room 4: Trick-or-Beat Concert

It’s time to put the ‘rave’ in graveyard! This stage is serving up Mogloween beats meet Battleon Battle Concert, complete with cobwebs, balloons, and a live (possibly undead?) band! This underground club has it all:

The Story Behind the Build

“Halloween is not really a thing in my place where I live,” house builder Lucifer shares on Discord, “so I never have tasted the real Halloween atmosphere where people decorate their house with some spooky furniture and accessories. Kids wearing costumes, and asking for trick or treating etc. I can only see it through tv shows/movies and games. That's why Mogloween in AQW is one of my favorite events because I can feel the spirit of Halloween there.”

Lucifer poured all that love into this build, and it shows in every little item placement. But of course we can’t forget their heroic helpers:

“My main reason I built this house is because I really want to try to fully decorate my rooms with Mogloween items, and I got asked by O_q and Ewa to do it for our guild hangout and screenie. I was like LET'S GOOOO one stone two birds xD” Lucifer beams, remembering all the fun. “They both really helped me even though mostly they were just messing around with me smh my head. O_q once said "We need more pumpkins so I can slap them" while Ewa said "One room must have plushies :<" since she loves plushies a lot.”

Ok so I totally get why one room NEEDED to have plushies… but why on Lore’s green earth does O_q feel the NEED to slap pumpkins?! 👀 Do I… do I even want to know?? 

Lucifer concludes story time by sharing some fun facts:

⏰ It took 3 hours to build, but pretty sure half that time was spent giggling in chat!
🤫 Whatever you do, do NOT go into the well. It’s not like there’s a secret room or anything…

Why AQWorlds is so special

Double Guild Spotlights: Luminary & Revenance

Two Guilds, Two Legends, One Spotlight 

No two guilds are alike, and that’s the beauty of AQWorlds. You can be anyone — or anything! — you want, and you can join a guild that aligns with your core beliefs… and impeccable taste in fashion ;) Some guilds shine through screenshots while others sparkle through stories. This week, we’re celebrating 2 incredible guilds who each embody different kinds of greatness: Luminary and Revenance!

Luminary: Legends in Light (and Screenshots) 

Founded all the way back on September 18th, 2012, Luminary is led by the iconic Jase and supported by a powerhouse team of officers: Maby, Jsv, Kleio, Bearista, Ark Jhin, Brx, and S K E T C H, plus a few mysterious names that remain mysterious 👀

They’ve recruited more than 350 members, which means there’s probably a 9001% chance you’ve crossed paths with a Luminary legend along your adventures. 

“In Luminary’s light, 300 strong they stand,
Brave heroes united, a mighty hand.
Through shadows they stride, with courage untold—
In the guild of the stars, their hearts gleam gold.”

With breathtaking screenshots, synchronized style, and a flair for the dramatic, Luminary proves that guild pride is felt ~and~ seen! And beyond the posing and perfection? There’s true camaraderie underneath it all.

“We’re like family, not just in AQW, but in other games and even real life too,” Discord scriber Klee shares as they conclude their guild’s entry. 

Revenance: Where Loyalty Runs Deeper Than Blood

If Luminary is one of the oldest Guilds in the game, then Revenance is one of the newest! Founded on June 9th, 2025 by Junnix, Revenance may be small but they’ve got big heart and a story to share! With 55 active players on the Artix and Yorumi servers, Revenance is a tight-knit guild of high-level, battle-tested veterans who are writing their legend, one Ultra fight at a time.

“Revenance is a family forged in the fires of battle, bound by loyalty, and strengthened through every victory across Lore,” guildleader Junnix shares on Discord. “We face every challenge not just as guildmates, but as lifelong comrades—from slaying Chaos Lords to farming for that one rare drop at 1%.”

Yup, you read that right: this guild slays together, laughs together, and bleeds RNG together. From Legion quests to Nulgath contracts, Revenance doesn’t back down. But they also don’t forget the heart beneath the grind!

“Whether grinding through Dage’s legion quests or clearing Nulgath’s darkest contracts, we stand together—not just for loot, but for each other.”

Their guild’s story isn’t just about power… it’s about the people! “Welcome to Revenance—where loyalty runs deeper than blood, and every member is more than just a name on a list. We’re not just a guild—we’re a home.”

Requirements to join Revenance

📈 Level 60+
🏆 Must have at least one of: StoneCrusher (SC), ArchPaladin (AP), or Lord of Order (LoO)
🧘 And, most importantly: the right mindset!

“In our halls, laughter echoes louder than war cries. Even during the fiercest Ultra fights, there’s always room for a joke. We pick each other up when we fall—be it after a tough battle or a tough day. No egos, no drama—just real players with each other’s backs, in-game and beyond.”

That bond is what defines Revenance. Not their gear score. Not their ranking. But their willingness to lead with heart.

“We celebrate the wins, learn from the wipes, and always make time for fun—even when the RNG gods aren’t on our side.” (Oh boy, have I been there! *shudder* Phoenix Blade, 2009) “New players are welcomed like old friends. Player Housing Spotlight: R0-Y09 Space X Laboratory by Roy09

Madness, Mayhem, and Moonbase Vibes

Hello heroes & home decorators around the world… and the galaxy! Our latest Player Housing Spotlight is heading straight into deep space, where science gets weird, failed experiments roam free, and a Mad Scientist rules over it all. Welcome to R0-Y09 Space X Laboratory, built by the delightfully chaotic Roy09!

Open to all humans and aliens alike on the Artix server via /house Roy09, this interstellar stronghold was first constructed in 2020 and has been obsessively remodeled ever since.

“I cannot recall how many times I redesigned this house, it’s just my inner child is waiting for more Space-related house items,” Roy09 the homeowner shares. Hmm… maybe a 3I ATLAS-inspired item will make landfall soon? 🛸

Touring the Lab: Room by Room

1. Project X-tra

Where it all begins. This intro area sets the tone for the entire experience — a mysterious (and slightly unnerving) vibe that lets you know: this is ~not~ your average space base.

2. The Laboratory Entrance

Massive servers. Experimental gear. Definitely no unauthorized creatures roaming loose… we hope. You’re in the zone now.

3. The Clonning Room

That’s not a typo — that’s what Roy09 calls it. And yes, there’s some “creative cloning” going on. Think vat-grown humanoids with a touch of EbilCorp tech. At least you’ll feel like royalty walking down the red carpet! …oh wait…

4. The Core

Still under construction while Roy awaits the perfect Heart item to complete the room — which is already giving me hardcore FFVII Jenova vibes! Maybe a parasitic alien goddess is what the room needs instead? Regardless of what is (or isn’t) added into AQW, every space laboratory needs a totally-not-dangerous pulsing core! 

5. Room of Failed eXperiment

Welcome to the final room, where everything went gloriously & horribly wrong. Every mad scientist has a few “oops” moments, and this room is full of them. Tentacles, clones, and slime-coated monstrosities with too many eyes, mouths, and mysterious fluids to count. This room is a monument to what SHOULDN’T have been.

“I just layered the items to make it look realistic — and I think it’s awesome,” Roy09 says while a wicked grin spreads across his face. “Or it’s just that I’m a MAaaaDAA, Creaaative AQW Scientist! <3” 

The Lore Behind the Lab

“This Space X Laboratory is a secret lab owned by a player named Roy09,” our creator explains. “Rumors say that creatures putting chaos in different places were actually failed projects by the Mad Scientist.”

Wait… failed on purpose? 👀

We’re not saying Roy09 is responsible for 37% of all in-game chaos monsters… but we’re not NOT saying it, either.

“If I could turn back time, not for collection chests — but to have all the TMBG house shop items. Especially the Extraterresterrarium. :P”

Same, Roy. Same. We fully support this level of unhinged genius. 

And with free house space expansions from the AQW team, and a constant flow of new decorations from our amazing artists, Roy’s mad science dreams are just getting started! We cannot wait to see what Roy09 builds next… watching from a safe distance, ofc.

Guild Spotlight: Universal

A Home Among the Stars 

Hiya heroes! Our newest Guild Spotlight is dedicated to a place where kindness shines brighter than any star. Say hello to Universal, an out-of-this-world AQW guild where every player is welcome to be their awesome, authentic self.

Founded on April 15th, 2020 by the cosmic commander himself, Raymond (aka Cosmic) created a galaxy of good vibes, unforgettable moments, and community-powered chaos. Well, the good kind of chaos!

“Universal has a double meaning,” Guildleader Raymond explains. “Space/Cosmic-themed after my Cosmic account, but also a place for everybody to feel included, call home and just be who they are.” 

Aggghhh I absolutely LOVE that 💕

With 400 members strong (and aiming for 500!), Universal is led by a core team of passionate players including Co-Leader Doodiee, General Officer Satanuel, and a full fleet of officers: Borts, Joeismymom, Jankz, Dali, Dustin, Tokoru, Yam, Asal, Hane, BTC, and Yveltal.

Lemmie just say: this crew reached for the stars… and probably maxed out their inventories in the process lol

From Big Bang Beginnings to Galactic Greatness

Universal was first launched back in 2020, but after a well-earned break, Raymond made a stellar comeback earlier this year.

“I originally created the guild on my Cosmic account… we were a big community years ago but only had 125 official guild members. Leading the original Universal was amazing and I will never forget it.”

The guild was disbanded in 2021 during Raymond’s “retirement era,” but in true hero fashion, he returned in March 26th, 2025 with a new account, a renewed mission, and a galaxy-sized goal. And the community responded instantly ~and~ overwhelmingly!

“Within the first 2 days of creating the guild, the support from the AE community was huge, we had over 60,000 Artix Points donated to help build up and run events!”

Get this: in just 2 weeks, Universal rocketed past 300 members!!!

“We have reached the greatness of the original guild again with a much bigger community and I love being back leading a guild again.”

AQW Guild Spotlight: Eterna Palace

10 Years of Helping and Heroing

Heya heroes! This week’s Guild Spotlight is a magical mix of kindness, community, and crazy growth. We’re shining a spotlight on Eterna Palace, an AQW guild founded October 1st, 2014, and still going strong over 10 years later!

Led by K_sensei (who’s actually a game dev IRL) alongside a team of noble offers — Valkyria Rosanova, Faellyss, Luxurious_crown, Chazzey, Eizn, Akira the Usurper, Lania_stormking, and Via_graneet to name a few — Eterna Palace is a group of 380+ active adventurers out of 800 total members (!!) who live to help, guide, and spread love across Lore. Whether you’re a returning hero, a newbie lost in Battleon, or someone who accidentally aggro’d Blinky… Eterna Palace has always got your back!

“Not to mention, some of my game dev class students are there as my class activities involve AQW!” K_sensei exclaims with a smile, undoubtedly the coolest teacher ever.

As you can see, ~fun~ is the name of the game here! …well, technically, it’s AQWorlds, but you get the idea.

Player Housing Spotlight: Beast Beach Bash by Apo11y0n

Seas the Day at the Beach

Hi heroes! Are you enjoying your summer? Looking to take a tropical vacay without breaking the bank ~or~ searing your skin with the sun’s relentless rays? Oh boy, do I have the perfect place for you! Head on over to Apo11y0n’s Royal Beach Tent on the Safiria server, a quirky coastal creation that fuses beachside shenanigans with monster mayhem, moglins, and sneaky squeaky rodents!

“I hid 12 rats in the house, can you find them all?” Apo11y0n states, probably laughing from afar as I struggle to find more than 3 rodents. It’s seriously the hardest scavenger hunt I’ve ever embarked on!

But the real charm of this player housing build is the story each room tells. From jungle chaos to ocean oddities, every scene feels like a mini adventure built with intention, humor, and just the right amount of weird. Go grab your magnifying glass and sunglasses, and let the Beast Beach Bash begin!

Room 1: A Foliage-Filled Frenzy

We begin our tour with a jungle party so chaotic it feels like a nature documentary chugged 15 cans of Moglin Energy Drink. A lion looms over a litter of felines mid-melee, all the while a crew of colorful NPCs tries to keep the peace. Geopetal’s a stone-cold bouncer, Ballyhoo’s blazing blue amongst the bushes, and Twilly? He’s stunned into silence, frozen mid-word, while Zorbak declares “Chow Time!” before feasting on… whatever the hecc that green blob pile is under his feet. Melted Frogzard, perhaps? Check the Zard on the left; he’s all Surprised Pikachu meme.  

“The tent is making weird noises, but you also hear the sounds of partying further down the beach,” Apo11y0n says, waving us over. “Let’s ignore it for now, and party on!” 

Room 2: Freaki Tiki and the Briny Bar

Take a few sandy steps down the shoreline and things get… even freakier.

Memet is playing bartender while moglins and moglinsters soak up vacay vibes and fruity bevvys. Twig’s attempting pickup lines next to a HeroSmash hottie — “everything’s fine” Twig assures, but that lil moglin looks like he’s getting burned bad. Meanwhile, more HS heroes fly on in, Scurvy’s found something shiny, there’s a duck holding a revolver because why not, and a mariachi band politely awaits a tip. Twilly kindly offers a golden moglin statue, but the band only wants ACs. Go figure.

“Beyond the braziers, at the brink where the beach meets the briny blue, with baited breath we continue to the next room,” our host beckons, drink in hand, clearly unfazed by the madness unfolding behind them.

Room 3: Sandcastle Showdown

Here, the situation gets serious.

A massive kraken has stolen a koi from a keg… yes, really. A stoic samurai squares off against the squid in a seafood-themed showdown, and, should he emerge victorious, will probably evolve into a Master Sushi Chef. I’m pretty sure that’s how Itamae are made IRL. 

Twig and Quibble, having plowed through 10 cans of Moglin Energy Drinks, have gone full architect, crafting a sandcastle big enough for critters to crawl inside. Cute colorful crabs line up to wait their turn while a cat Cthulhu (obviously Cathulhu) wonders if it’s selfish to swipe some shellfish. 

In summary? Squids and samurais and sandcastles, oh my!

But don’t kick off your ruby slippers just yet, Dorthy. There’s one last wild place to explore.

Room 4: MONSTER MAYHEM!

This final room is where the beach party takes a dark turn.

You step inside and suddenly — BAM! Air conditioning! jk lol. Monsters. Monsters everywhere! A gallery of ghouls, dragons, and all your favorite baddies are packed shoulder to shoulder inside one enormous tent that somehow fits them all.

It’s epic. It’s ridiculous. It’s so AQW.

“WOAH! Looks like this tent is big enough to BATTLE in! Monsters GALORE!”

You try counting them all, but lose track at around 20. One is definitely breathing. Another might be staring. The exit is just behind you… but are you sure they’ll let you leave in one piece?

Shorelines, Sunsets, & Shenanigans

Apo11y0n’s Royal Beach Tent is equal parts scavenger hunt, beach party, and monster mash. This four-room saga dares you to laugh, squint, and probably question your counting skills at least once.

From baddie brawls to moglin mixers to grand theft kraken, every room in the Beast Beach Bash is an absolute blast!

And remember: there are 12 rats hidden throughout.

No way you’ll find them all.

But you’ll have a great time trying.

Guild Spotlight: Actium

In the vast sea of AdventureQuest guilds, where friendships are forged and memories are made, there sails a mighty guild that needs no introduction… but deserves one anyway: Actium! Founded in 2023 and led by Craiser alongside a fleet of incredible officers, this guild of 400 strong blends the battle-tested wisdom of endgame players with the warm welcoming embrace of an open harbor.

Name Origin

The name “Actium” isn’t just cool — it's historic! The Battle of Actium was the final showdown between Octavian and Mark Antony (and Cleopatra, ofc), marking a turning point in Roman history. Likewise, the Actium Guild is a modern-day clash of titans: PvP strategists, ultra-boss battlers, fashion friends, and set-building artists from across the world. Actium is here to conquer, connect, and create!

More Than a Guild — a Global Family

What started as a small, like-minded group has grown into one of AQWorlds’ most vibrant and supportive communities. As guildmember Pomme puts it:

“Actium has made AQW fun again since my return to the game. GOAT guild.” 

But what makes Actium so great?

“We really like to laugh, share experiences, talk about life and give each other advice for both life and play,” Perry explains on Discord, who may or may not be the guild leader, but they’re definitely the guild's spokesperson, and they definitely mean what they say!

“At least once a week we organize a competition or an event for the guild—set competitions, PvP, hangouts, and more,” continues Perry. “Sometimes they also include prizes!”

Player Housing Spotlight: Dragonas95’s Undead Castle on a Giant Corpse

Welcome to Your New Favorite Death Fortress

Some players build cozy cottages. Others design elegant elven retreats. But Dragonas95? They said hecc nah and went full necromancer instead. “So how should I explain my obsession with this house???” Dragonas95 laughs — maniacally ofc. “Well I mean first off, it’s a castle on a dead dragon corpse that moves around with necromance magic. IDK what more you need than that XD.”

But we need more! And Dragonas95 delivers. 

Originally eyeing in the whimsical Cotton Candy Cottage (a solid choice, no doubt), Dragonas realized it just couldn’t contain the full scope of their shadow-saturated vision. But when they laid eyes on the ShadowScythe Castle, it was love at first sight… and love at first Shadowscythe.

The Grand Tour of Doom… with Lattes?

Dragonas’s castle has a deadly, dramatic, and dangerously caffeinated vibe. Each room is packed with personality, power, and probably a few cursed relics.

It’s Christmas in July! Dragonas has dedicated the final room to the final month of the year, when Frostval festivities are in full swing. Sing carols with the Christmas crew, eye presents under the tree, and snap some selfies with some elves! Elfie Selfies, anyone?

Player Housing Spotlight: Chateau Swaggy by Amora

Wedding Surprises Abound!

Last week’s Fanart Spotlight featured the real-life wedding of longtime AQW player Wulff Hunter, complete with a heartfelt musical remake of his childhood band’s song. (Yes, I’m still crying happy tears & toe-tapping to the beat.) And while Wulff and his beloved said “I do,” this week we’re spotlighting someone still waiting for her true love… but who’s already built the wedding venue of her dreams!

Meet Amora, a romantic soul who built her home, Chateau Swaggy, back in 2022 after the AQW Housing Quality-of-Life update. As she puts it:

“I love love, and my house is based on love of course!”

Every room in Chateau Swaggy is dripping with details, warmth, and a sense of storybook whimsy, everything we know ~and~ love about the world of Lore!

🧺 The first room welcomes visitors with a lovely picnic scene, complete with cute critters and fresh flowers.

🎂 The second room is the wedding space itself, filled with a layered cake, colorful presents, and music playing in the background.

🍳 In the third room, Amora brings the cozy vibes with a fully decorated kitchen — because love is best served hot, right?

☕ To the right is the backyard, a peaceful patio set, and coffee for two.

🌹 More room to roam — and snap screenies with the guests, ofc.

🌌 On the roof, lovers (or besties!) can stargaze together beneath the night sky.

🛏️ To the left of the kitchen is a sweet and dreamy bedroom, and just beyond that, a tidy bathroom.

🎤 And tucked away in a cozy entertainment room, there’s karaoke and a hot tub — the perfect way to end any fairytale evening.

“I’m so excited to finally be able to share it!” Amora exclaims, her excitement palpable from the depths of Discord. And I’m so excited to spotlight Amora’s house this week, too!
