Verus DoomKnight Class

This Friday... Unleash the DOOM

Doom is in the air. A Mysterious Stranger has reemerged on the outskirts of Termina Temple in search of a new champion. Could it be... you? Our month-long 15th Birthday celebration starts this weekend: seasonal birthday and Mogloween maps return with all new reward drops for all heroes to collect! Heroes level 40+ can begin the quest to unlock the Verus DoomKnight class... if you dare. O_O

As a reimagining of DoomKnight, the very first birthday class we ever released back in 2009, Verus DoomKnight is a late game single target class that focuses on applying heavy defense debuffs to its target, while also being able to build up its damage after gathering enough Doom!

How to Unlock the Class

Seek out the Mysterious Stranger on the outskirts of /terminatemple and complete their series of quests to unlock the class.

  • Level 40 required to begin the quest chain
  • Quest requirements will increase as you progress through them.
  • The final quests will require level 80.

The quests will involve you attuning with Doom by gathering Doom related items, defeating foes with connections to doom (both easy and hard), exploring the path that a former Emperor of Doom took, and finally, building an undead army.

Some of the quest requirements will include:

  • Rank 10 Evil
  • Sepulchure's Original Helm
  • Arch DoomKnight Helm
  • ShadowReaper of Doom
  • Dragonlord of Evil armor
  • Defeating certain monsters in /thevoid

Important Notes

  • The class and its True DoomKnight armor set can only be obtained by completing the Mysterious Stranger's quests.
  • Insignias are NOT required for this class, but there may be some more challenging foes that you will not be able to defeat on your own.

Verus DoomKnight Details

Description: Recommended enhancements: Lucky. Power beyond imagination. Complete domination of Lore. The humiliation of your enemies. It's what you deserve. There needs to be a Champion of Doom, and that role was meant for you.

Stat Model: Tank Melee

Mana Regen: The Verus DoomKnight gains mana when they:

  • Strike a enemy in combat (more effective on crits).
  • Are struck by an enemy in combat.

Skill Breakdown

Rank 1 Passive: Doom's All Around
Starting at rank 1, all skills (except Necrotic Blade) grant you 1 stack of Doom, which stacks to 10 and is used for Unleash Doom. While Unleashed Doom is active, you can't gain stacks of Doom.

Necrotic Blade

Rank needed: 1 / Auto Attack
Target: Enemy
Max Targets: 1
Type: Physical
Range: Melee
Cooldown: 2 seconds

Strike your target with your Doom Blade. Applies Weakened, reducing your target's outgoing damage and Crit Chance by 15% for 20 seconds.

If Unleashed Doom is active, applies Blinded, reducing your target's Hit Chance by 30% for 3 seconds.

A fairly standard auto attack that applies a decent damage debuff, and then a pretty significant Hit Chance debuff when Unleashed Doom is active. What’s Unleashed Doom? Well you'll find out soon enough!

Soul Fracture

Rank needed: 1
Target: Enemy
Max Targets: 1
Type: Magical
Range: Long
Mana Cost: 5
Cooldown: 5 seconds

Ravage your target's soul, severely crippling their defenses. Applies Fractured Soul, reducing your target's Damage Resistance by 50% and Physical and Magical Resistance by 30% for 8 seconds.

If Unleashed Doom is active, applies Shattered Soul, reducing your target's Physical and Magical Resistance by 30% for 5 seconds.

If Darkness is gathered, applies Cataclysm, increasing your Crit Chance and Crit Damage by 50% for 15 seconds.

Soul Fracture is arguably Verus DoomKnight's most powerful skill as it causes your target to get an effective instant 95% more damage while Soul Fracture is active, which is further increased when Unleashed Doom is active. The skill also grants you a massive Crit Chance and Crit Damage bonus, when you gather Darkness in your Unleashed Doom state, if you so choose. Note that although this skill does Magical damage, it uses a physical damage calculation.

Life Carve

Rank needed: 2
Target: Enemy
Max Target: 1
Type: Physical
Range: Long
Mana Cost: 8
Cooldown: 5 seconds

Carve into your target, draining life from them and applying Decay, negating all non lifesteal healing they receive for 1 second.

If Unleashed Doom is active, applies Necrotic Warmth, restoring your HP over 5 seconds.

If Darkness is gathered, applies Veil of Darkness, increasing your Damage Resistance by 50% for 15 seconds.
This is your defensive skill, a life steal on a relatively low cooldown that evolves into a HoT when Unleashed Doom is active. You also have the option of getting a nice defense buff from it.

Doom Spikes

Rank needed: 3
Target: Enemy
Max Targets: 1
Type: Physical
Range: Long
Mana Cost: 10
Cooldown: 5 seconds

Raise spikes from the ground, piercing your target. Applies Spiked, reducing your target's Haste and Dodge by 15% for 8 seconds.

If Unleashed Doom is active, the spikes grow in power, stunning your target for 1 second. Can't miss.

If Darkness is gathered, applies Demise, increasing your outgoing damage by 50% for 15 seconds.

Doom Spikes is a relatively simple debuff skill that improves the chance of your other skills hitting, while also applying a brief stun on a low cooldown while you have Unleashed Doom active. Its most notable effect is Demise, which gives you a 50% increase to your damage, but if you think that's a lot, take a look at Verus DoomKnight's final skill!

Unleash Doom

Rank needed: 5
Target: Enemy
Max Targets: 1
Type: Magical
Range: Long
Mana Cost: 8
Cooldown: 10 seconds

Release calamitous shadows upon your target, inflicting them with Lingering Darkness, a DoT for 12 seconds. If you have 10 stacks of Doom, they are consumed to apply Unleashed Doom, empowering your skills and increasing your outgoing damage by 100% and Haste by 50% for 8 seconds. Can't miss.

If Unleashed Doom is active, you Gather Darkness, empowering the next skill you use (except Necrotic Blade) with an additional effect.

This is the skill that ties the class together. Whenever you use Soul Fracture, Life Carve, Doom Spikes, or even Unleash Doom itself, you'll gain a stack of Doom. Once you have 10 stacks of Doom and use this skill, that's when the full power of Verus DoomKnight is revealed. Not only does Unleashed Doom drastically increase your damage and Haste, but it also empowers your skills with a secondary effect! On top of that, using this skill while Unleashed Doom is active grants you a stack of Gathered Darkness, which allows you to gain one of three powerful buffs depending on the next skill you use! Note that although this skill does Magical damage, it uses a physical damage calculation.

 Passives

Inner Darkness

Rank needed: 4
Type: Passive

Hit Chance and Haste increased by 15%.

DoomKnight Armor

Rank needed: 4
Type: Passive

END and Damage Resistance increased by 50%.

Doom's All Around

Rank needed: 1/10
Type: Passive

Starting at rank 1, all skills (except Necrotic Blade) grant you 1 stack of Doom, which stacks to 10 and is used for Unleash Doom. While Unleashed Doom is active, you can't gain stacks of Doom. At rank 10, increases your Crit Chance by 10%.

Conclusion

Verus DoomKnight is a pretty straightforward to use class that is fairly balanced between offense and defense while on its own, but should be a welcome addition to any parties you may be a part of due to the defense debuffs from its Soul Fracture skill alone.

Since the core gameplay of the class involves stacking Doom to use your Unleashed Doom buff, the class synergizes quite well with Forge Enhancements or support classes that increase your Haste, as the quicker you can stack Doom, the quicker you can unleash it!

Now, onwards Champion of Doom. Cover Lore in darkness, and show your enemies the true power of the Verus DoomKnight!
